about

when the soviet union collapsed, people who never needed a bank account were swallowed by an instantaneously privatized economy. the average height across eastern europe dropped almost 2 centimeters. capitalism is having no real choice but to pay for everything you need or otherwise fall short. the ubiquity of monetized markets and in turn the ubiquitous demand for money is not the end of history. it’s just the ongoing involution of time, and the latest cause of inflation. this is no reclamation of the platonic stasis of ancient greek historiography. this is just greedy people stealing the past, the present, and the future every chance they get. ******** is an arendtian, but arendt believed the average person was a chaos agent liable to irrupt the status quo with their unthinking abstentions from morality. she was heartbroken by heidegger, which is about the most banal thing ever, equalled only by the evil of all the straight girls shocked to discover their apolitical boyfriends froth for fascists.

fascism wasn’t invented in germany but definitely in the process of texas secession and before that during the religious wars of the post-reformation. everything is exported, huguenots to the carolinas and confederates to brazil. if you keep going back, the invention of violence increases the demand for money, which has had 2 functions in the historic west. first, as a supplement to the concept of sin, a technology for ordering time, then as the equivalent through which all time is convertible (that particular form of credit which is universally accepted).

christianity is about getting a hold of the self in the ceaseless flux of experience, thus the gnostics and thus their excision in the process of gospelic canonization. elimination is always a process. death, yes, absolutely, but time on top of time on top of time. how can a suitable subject emerge, to work, pay taxes, and die, without being anchored in the responsibility for all they’ve done? conversion is the initiation into a paradigm of non-organic continuity, the naturalization of poverty on earth, and the eternal duration of coins over bodies. even though the weight falls out of both in the end! the deceit of bullion thomas more almost articulated is its specific and dying utility. what we can’t do makes us slippery, so prices become things which cannot be refused. do we ever have a dollar? or is a dollar just what we need? we get a credit score for the same reason: disbelief in the soul isn’t an excuse not to have one.
